My statement was: Video games are purely for entertainment, they are not art.
Our group disagreed with the statement.
Our first point was the video game, "Minecraft". In it, the player can create whatever they want out of the wide array of materials and pieces that the game offers. Many sculptures and works of art have been created inside the game, and it offers a creative outlet to many players.
The second piece of evidence we decided on was the graphics in the video game "Crisis 3". A lot of effort and imagination has gone into designing the landscapes and models, and they could all stand alone as art pieces if displayed.
Our third point was the game "The Witness", a game that follows a detailed narrative, with a beautiful message. All art has meaning, and good art has a message. Many games, such as "The Witness", and many more, have strong stories, meanings, and messages.
Our counter argument was that when video games were first created, they were clearly intended for nothing but entertainment, with simple graphics and no such thing as a story. They have clearly changed though, because comparing a game such as "The Witness", to "Pong", there is an obvious progression in basically every aspect.

Great range of arguments with a range of evidence. You have demonstrated a multifaceted contention that strengthens your viewpoint.
